Jonathan J. Tew is a native Nevadan. Upon graduating law school, Jon moved to Chicago and began his legal career at Drinker Biddle & Reath (now Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath). After several years of practice in Chicago, Jon returned to Nevada – working for Robertson Johnson Miller & Williamson in late 2010 and becoming a Partner and Shareholder in 2019. In 2023, Jon became a Partner at the law firm of Hutchison & Steffen in its Reno office. More recently, in July of 2024, Jon was of Counsel with Simons Hall & Johnston.
Jon’s core legal practices are complex litigation, business transactions - including government-related contracting, and commercial real estate. Jon has provided optimal outcomes for his clients in private practice by understanding the importance of always being responsive, paying particularly close attention to detail, utilizing an in-depth understanding of the nuances of both substantive and procedural law, and employing a relentless work ethic. While a zealous advocate for his clients in private practice, Jon believes in the importance of practicing with civility. Indeed, several of his closest professional friends include attorneys he has litigated against over the years. Jon previously was appointed by the United States District Court, District of Nevada, to serve a two-year term as one of its select number of Lawyer Representatives.
When not working, Jon enjoys spending his free time with his three wonderful daughters (fifteen, twelve, and seven) and one year old son. Jon also enjoys golf, tennis, working out at South RAC, trail walking, and meditation. He is also a member of the Prospector’s Club.
